Laigueglia
is a renowned tourist resort in the “Riviera del Ponente Ligure” (the
West Ligurian Riviera), whose historic centre still conserves the charm
of a typical Borgo Marinaro (fisherman’s village) and is characterised
by its “carruggi” (alleys) and squares overlooking the sea – all
a pedestrianised area.
This portion of land, 90 km from France and the same distance from the chief
town of Genoa, enjoys an extraordinary microclimate with approximately 300
days of sunshine a year and very little temperature variation, making it
ideal for swimming or hiking.
Inland, the countryside is dotted with olive trees, dry stone walls and ancient
medieval villages, perfect for walks in the open air and to enjoy the view
over the Baia del Sole (Sun Bay).
The sea has such exceptional qualities that a protected marine area has been
created a few miles from the shore. Cetaceans and dolphins of various species
migrate here from April to September. Boats, available from Andora, Alassio
and other nearby locations, make exciting Whale watching trips daily.
The beach is incomparable with its fine sand and gently sloping sea bottom,
allowing children to enjoy their holiday in safe contact with the sea environment.
